Rüdiger Hess sees positive signs that more cities will host a Europeade in the coming years, promoting peace and friendship between the peoples of the regions. The circle of Europeade enthusiasts must be expanded, according to Rüdiger Hess. Friendship must be further revitalised and the idea of the Europeade spread throughout the world. Unity in diversity is a fundamental principle that can foster friendship between peoples. ‘As president of the International Committee of the Europeade, I feel very comfortable with all my supportive friends,’ said Hess. All wishes for more quality with the same funding can only be realised if Europe finally recognises the value of the Europeade. We need Europe's support! This requires more enthusiasm. Hess recently visited Bergamo, where he met with Mayor Elena Carnevali, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture Sergio Gandi, President of the Province Pasquale Gandolfi, the diocesan delegate for institutional relations Monsignor Giulio Della Vite, the president of the trade fair Luciano Patelli, the managing director of the Agency for the Promotion of the Economic and Tourism System of the Province of Bergamo Christophe Sanchez, the president of the most important local folklore organisation (the ‘Ducato di Piazza Pontida’) Mario Morotti and the president of the Lombardy section of the Community of Rotarians interested in culture (F.R.A.C.H.) Alberto Barzanò. In Milan, he also met with representatives of the Lombardy Regional Parliament from all parties. The talks were positive. The local organising committee is currently being formed, thanks to the availability of the ‘Ducato di Piazza Pontida’ to coordinate it. Another visit by Rüdiger Heß to Bergamo is already planned for early October to discuss the outstanding issues in more detail and finalise the details of the event. At that time, official confirmation will be given that the 60th Europeade will take place in Bergamo from 22th to 26th of July 2026.

President Hess expressed his sincere thanks to Professor Barzanò and his entire network in and around Bergamo for their enthusiasm for our Europeade. All discussions in Bergamo and with other European cities continue to make us optimistic about the future. Following the final decision in Bergamo, the regie team, led by Hilde Gielis, will do everything in its power to ensure a very successful Europeade in Bergamo.
