Looking back on the 58th and looking ahead to 59th Europeade

After a very good Europeade 2023 in Gotha, Mayor Knut invited Kreuch to a thanksgiving celebration on 29 September 2023. Our president Rüdiger Heß was also present and in his speech of thanks highlighted the excellent preparation and execution of this year's Europeade. Together with many volunteers from the city and associations, a fantastic Europeade was organised in Gotha. Knut Kreuch and Rüdiger Heß agreed that it is important for the European Union to finally understand that the Europeade, as the largest peace movement of people in Europe, finally needs financial institutional support from the EU, especially at this time. Rüdiger Heß: "At no time is it more important than today, in times of nationalism in some European countries, to put the commonality of our values at the centre. The promotion of Europe's regions should be central at the Europeade as unity in diversity."

After preparations over the summer, the contract for Europeade 2024 was signed by Peter de Vos and Rüdiger Heß on 11 November 2023 in Nuoro, Sardinia. Rüdiger Heß: "I am delighted that we have been able to find another city in southern Europe for 2024 to welcome our participants as guests." The Europeade will be held in Nuoro from 24 to 28 July 2024. Initial coordination began after the Europeade in Gotha, which means that the planning and preparations that preceded the signing of the contract since then, together with Hilde Gielis as head of the directing team and Hilda Ryssaert and Annick Weyn from the Europeade secretariat, can be called very focused and positive. "The talks with the city, Europeade Committee member Peppino Salis from Oliena/Sardinia and his wife Ann are going well and very harmoniously," says Rüdiger Heß. Many details were discussed with Mayor Andrea Soddu and his team. But both the city of Nuoro and the participants of the Europeade preparation team present are sure that there is still a lot of work to be done before we can experience another fantastic Europeade in July 2024. In particular, the very hot weather was increasingly mentioned by the city, with adjustments in the daily schedule definitely needed. At the same time, it was pointed out that the ferries will offer us more favourable conditions. More information on this can be obtained soon at the Antwerp office or during the registration process. Mayor Andrea Soddu and President Rüdiger Heß are certain that Europeade 2024 should also be an event focusing on peace and freedom in Europe. Rüdiger Heß is certain: "We will meet again as part of the Europeade family in Nuoro and spend five enjoyable days together."
